C# and .Net roles in London investment banks September 13, 2006

So, we all know that C# is quickly becoming the new C++ but does that mean that anyone with C# or .Net experience will walk into a position in the city? Unfortunately, I think not. From dealing with a number of banks it’s fairly safe to say that unless you have a background in object orientated analysis and design you will struggle to get into a business related area. The crux of the matter lies within the fact that the majority of C# and .Net developers are coming from a VB or web based background. Hiring managers are looking for people who have previous experience with Java or C++ as these people will understand OO principles. Multi-threading along with server side programming experience will get you in front of hiring managers.
